Arte assinada por minha esposa, que tirou as fotos também e falou sobre a nossa horta no blog dela.

Não é difícil, só não pode ter nojinho viadagem pra pegar em terra ou húmus de minhoca. Tem sim é que ter paciência para trabalhos manuais e saber pesquisar no google sobre variedades de hortaliças e sobre os cuidados necessários. Eu também descobri que produtos orgânicos são fáceis de cultivar, mas sobre isso, as diferenças para os semiôrganicos e como eu fiz a minha horta, vou dar umas dicas:

• Prefira mudas prontas à produção via semente. Plantar sementes demora muito, e na ceasa tem mudas de várias espécies de hortaliças. Mas comprar mudas prontas traz a desvantagem de não poder fazer uma horta 100% orgânica. Você até pode garantir tratá-las organicamente quando elas estão na sua varanda, mas antes disso não tem como garantir.
• Compre jardineiras grandes. Quanto maior, mais tempo de colheita você terá. Sabe-se que as plantas podem crescer até 2,5 vezes o tamanho do vaso. E compre também argila expandida para forrar a jardineira, no fundo. É bom para drenagem, evitando que a varanda fique suja.
• Agricultura orgânica não tem mistério. Basta terra preta, húmus de minhoca, bioinceticida para controle de pragas (eu uso óleo de Neem) e biofertilizantes. Sobre como fazer fertilizantes orgânicos recomendo ver este video. Para plantar, use covas rasas, deposite a planta e cubra com terra. Terminou de plantar todas na jardineira, molhe.
• Planta gosta de sol. Aliás, muito sol. Todas as hortaliças que plantei tomam sol da tarde e adoram. Mas no meu caso tive que aprender a regar direito. Nos primeiros dias eu usava um burrifador, mas elas foram murchando. Depois eu percebi que nestas condições de sol e vento, o ideal é cubrir o solo da jardineira com uma medida de um “dedo de água”. Exceto em semanas chuvosas, onde rego dia sim, dia não.
• Uma vez por semana limpe com esponja e detergente os prato das plantas. Use água corrente para limpar. Eu ouvi dizer que o óleo de Neem ajuda a manter a dengue longe, mas não comprovei e para não arriscar aos domingos eu limpo as bases das jardineiras.
• Quando for colher, use uma tesoura. Pode parecer bobagem, mas cortar com uma tesourinha limpa é até bom para a planta. Mas antes veja alguns videos no youtube sobre como se faz bonsai para entender o mínimo sobre poda.
• Uma ou outra planta exige cuidados especiais. Tomates, por exemplo, gostam de terra bem húmida. Eu fiz uma tipo de forração do solo dos tomateiros para manter mais húmido que nas outras plantas. Para as demais, nem usei tanta lasca de pinho assim. Olhe os meus comentários nas fotos que eu explico como eu fiz.
• Vale plantar qualquer uma com qualquer uma, exceto hortelâ que gosta de ficar sozinha e longe do sol. Talvez por isso que meu pé de hortelã não resistiu. Mas tenha paciência pois só aprende tentando. Eu mesmo já aprendi muito sobre como elas se comportam, seus sabores e cheiros, em quase 3 meses.

Update: removi definitivamente o link para o mashup que proporcionava uma agradável apresentação de vídeos do flickr. O produto tem falhas graves. Quem sabe eles melhorem esse vodpod pro futuro. Agora, aprecie as imagens aqui (ou visitando meu flickr):

How to setup a *box style for the xfce desktop

Very Cool!! I mean I can setting a minimalistic appearance with a right button menu like fluxbox, openbox and etc, and put a simple tiny bar at top right with some more usefull applets just to show me time, network connection, sound volume, battery state and some others utilities. The *Box style, for me, is the best desktop ever. Why you need several bar, widgets and eye candy with the aims of visual appeal if most of your time you only needs a terminal and a browser? keep it simple, man!

OBS.: As you may know, *Box style can be setup using Enlightenment and the final result will be less bloated then xfce – Enlightenment Foundation Libraries (EFL) is really more fast then GTK+ or QT.

They are:

• FireGPG is a Firefox extension under which brings an interface to encrypt, decrypt, sign or verify the signature of text in any web page using GnuPG. FireGPG adds some features to the Gmail interface, to let you use GPG’s features directly in your webmail for both, to sign and to detect PGP blocks in a page (for example a public key), and lets you easily manage these different blocks.
• Delicious Bookmark is a social bookmarking service that allows users to tag, save, manage and share web pages from a centralized source. With emphasis on the power of the community, browse bookmarks on just about anything from the best programming tips to the most popular travel sites, all in an easy to read format and with a lot of human factors.
• Adblock Plus is the bad boy of the Firefox Add-ons. Before Adblock born,  We are annoyed by all those ads and banners on the internet that often take longer to download than everything else on the page, after Adblock we could get rid of them. Right-click on a banner and choose “Adblock” from the context menu — the banner won’t be downloaded again. Maybe even replace parts of the banner address with star symbols to block similar banners as well. Or choose a filter subscription, then even this simple task will usually be unnecessary: the filter subscription will block most advertisements fully automatically.
• Extended Copy Menu is a simple Add-on that provide the option to copy a selected text into a page as to format to use when past back: plain text or html. Very simple to use.
• Gmail Notifier allows checking for new Gmail messages for multiple Gmail accounts directly from the browser’s UI. A status bar item will show once installed, and a toolbar item can be added by customizing the toolbar.
• TinyUrl Creator extension brings the http://tinyurl.com functionality closer to your fingertips. It will convert a long URL into a smaller, more manageable one which is easier to share through email and instant messenger. When you access the new “tiny” URL in your browser it will automatically send you to the original one.
• Wired-Marker is a permanent (indelible) highlighter that you use on Web pages. The highlighter, which comes in various colors and styles, is a kind of electronic bookmark that serves as a guide when you revisit a Web page. The highlighted content is automatically recorded in a scrapbook and saved.
